As we begin building the future of Ultra together, it’s important that we first align on why we’re creating a DAO and what we want it to achieve. Over the years, we’ve built powerful technology and an ecosystem with enormous potential but real progress doesn’t come from code alone.
We believe it’s time to leverage our unique community so you can have more meaningful influence over how the ecosystem grows, and what initiatives deserve the most attention. Before we dive into governance models and structure, we want to share our vision behind UltraDAO and the role it will play alongside Ultra.
WhyDAO?
Ultra was built on the idea that power lies in true ownership. In this case we are giving you, our community, the power to own a part of what we’ve built and have real power over our future. We’ve spent years developing solid blockchain infrastructure and building everything we believed we and other businesses would need to succeed. But one hard lesson we’ve learnt… technology doesn’t move the needle by itself. People do.
UltraDAO is our way of giving real decision-making power to the people most invested in Ultra’s success. Users, builders, creators, gamers, and partners will help shape how we deploy incentives, marketing, liquidity, and community initiatives. Growth should be guided not just by Ultra, but by those who believe in the network the most. Ultra and the DAO will have a symbiotic relationship, working closely together to bring the ecosystem to life.
What UltraDAO Does
Grow the Ultra ecosystem. More users. More developers. More partners. Who are using, supporting and building.
Make calls on where growth capital goes. Grants for builders. Marketing budgets. Partnerships. Liquidity programs. Community initiatives. The DAO decides what gets funded and what doesn’t.
Work alongside Ultra. We’re not replacing our engineering team. Ultra the company still runs the blockchain, handles security, pushes protocol upgrades, and maintains the core tech. The DAO handles ecosystem growth.
Control a meaningful chunk of the treasury. We’re starting the DAO with a meaningful portion of our treasury, this allocation will grow as real ecosystem milestones are hit. The DAO has resources to work with from day one, and an opportunity to hold a large majority of Ultra’s treasury if successful.
How It Operates
Community comes first. People who support, contribute, build, and participate on Ultra deserve a voice in where this goes.
An elected council will lead operations. The council is responsible for managing day-to-day DAO activities, executing proposals, and ensuring the DAO’s mandate is carried out. Council will be operational, not political.
Everything’s public. Budgets, proposals, votes, results, all of it gets tracked and shared for everyone to see.
Measure what matters. Initiatives need to deliver real results. We’re funding things because we expect them to make a difference, not because they sound good.
Work as partners. Ultra and UltraDAO aren’t separate entities. We win together or we lose together.
What DAO Does Not Do
The blockchain itself remains Ultra’s responsibility. Ultra has the expertise, infrastructure, and track record to maintain the network safely and reliably. The DAO won’t interfere with this core function, but could propose specific initiatives relating to its development.
The DAO won’t receive the entire treasury upfront. This is Ultra multiplying itself. If successful, the DAO will grow in power and have access to a large majority of Ultra’s treasury.
Not managing Ultra’s internal team or hiring decisions. That’s company business, not DAO business.
The DAO’s role is to complement what Ultra’s doing, not override it. That said, the DAO has full freedom to do as needed for it’s own operations.
Why this Model
We studied dozens of DAO structures from fully decentralized token–voting models to council-only models, and we propose a hybrid approach. A council provides execution and accountability, while voting ensures decisions come from the community.
UltraDAO’s principles:
Clarity. Clear mandate, mission, decision authority. Eliminates all ambiguity.
Structure. Explicit hierarchy with defined roles & accountability. Avoid “tyranny of structurelessness”.
Alignment. Incentives tied to protocol success. Converts governance to growth.
Engagement. Delegated voting, tiered thresholds, rewards. Maximize your participation.
Oversight. Transparent reporting, KPI tracking. Prioritize visibility and accountability.
TL;DR
UltraDAO gives the community real power to direct resources and funding toward growing the Ultra ecosystem. Meanwhile, Ultra keeps building the technology that makes everything possible. If Ultra wins so does the UltraDAO, and vice versa.
Keep following for the next steps, starting with our first UltraDAO fireside discussion on Discord tomorrow 7pm CET!
