Celebrating a year of ecosystem development, Uniq progression, and building: A look back at 2023 and ahead to 2024!
While 2022 was a year full of partnerships of significant strides in the development of our gaming ecosystem, 2023 saw a year of execution and the blooming of the core applications and technology within Ultra.
We saw the public releases of two of our premier applications, along with the tremendous progression of our robust Uniq token standard. With this fantastic year of development, we’re set to take 2024 by storm with a fully functional ecosystem.
We’ll break our year recap into three categories:
- Application launches
- Uniq standard progression
- Notable events
Without further ado, let’s recap some of our main highlights over the year 2023!
Application launches
With 2023 being a relatively quiet year for web3 gaming, we had our heads down and evolved our ecosystem into the beast we’ve always envisioned. 2023 was a crucial year for us to develop our core applications, and continue chipping away at our end goal — creating an all-in-one gaming ecosystem where gamers can thrive.
Here’s what went down:
Ultra Games: Public Release
In April, we successfully launched the open beta of Ultra Games to the public, marking a significant milestone for our ecosystem.
As one of our core applications, our PC game store aims to redefine standards with cutting-edge technology, providing players with thrilling games, innovative features, and new experiences for you as a player.
Throughout the year, we expanded our catalog with numerous exciting titles, enriching our vibrant community. In 2024, our vision remains unchanged, with a focus on adding more captivating games to our store, including exclusive additions!
The three most downloaded games on Ultra Games in 2023 were:
Ultra Arena: Public Release & Leaderboards
In August, we launched Ultra Arena, our esports application enabling players to compete for UOS, physical rewards, and Uniqs in their favorite games.
The release saw many players battling it out for first-place prizes, with each month seeing tournaments at capacity. Over X tournaments have been held, with over X UOS being rewarded to participants.
We’re only just getting started with Arena and we’re excited to see how 2024 shapes up. Expect new tournament frameworks, crazy prize pools, and exciting collaborations with partners.
Leaderboard Feature
Leaderboards are a new tournament framework on Ultra Arena that enables organizers to curate season-long events. These events will consist of multiple tournaments over a predefined time frame, with each tournament contributing to the rankings of the leaderboard.

The introduction of leaderboards isn’t merely a new feature; it signifies a pivotal stride in the evolution of Ultra Arena. Beyond its immediate benefits, it sets the stage for future developments.
Uniq Marketplace
The Uniq Marketplace saw several innovative and exciting Uniqs drops, collaborating with established partners and being a trading hub for rewards within Ultra’s ecosystem.
Our vision for the Uniq Marketplace remains the same. We aspire to establish it as the trading hub of Ultra, where a diverse range of items are exchanged. Looking ahead to 2024, we aim to continue introducing new innovative collections, showcasing the true potential of the Uniq standard.
Ultra Chrome Extension
In April we also successfully launched our own Chrome Extension, enabling developers and players to access their Ultra Wallet through their browsers.

The Ultra Chrome extension is a game-changer in unlocking access to our ecosystem. It equips developers to integrate Ultra’s blockchain into their dApps and websites for enhanced functionality while enabling players to trade and manage their assets beyond the Ultra client.
If you haven’t already, you can download the Ultra Chrome extension here.
Uniq Standard Progression
The Ultra Uniq NFT standard remains a core priority for us when it comes to providing a token standard where creators, developers, and players can experience gaming and item ownership like ever before.
2023 was a year where several core components of our Uniq standard were built, as we continue to build toward being the ultimate token standard in the realm of web3 gaming.
Here’s how our Uniq standard progressed this year:
Game Tokenization
As one of the key features of Ultra’s vision, 2023 was the year to execute and truly tokenize games. We can successfully say we’ve tokenized every game on Ultra!
Simply put, tokenized games give players and developers the ability to do more with their games. One of the most talked about features is the opportunity to trade purchased games.
The First Tradable Digital Game
In December we successfully launched the first tradable digital game, something we’ve been building toward since the inception of Ultra. The steady progression of our Uniq standard enabled us to finally tokenize games in implementing the tradability parameter.
Now, players can trade previously purchased tradable games on any marketplace built on Ultra’s technology. Be part of history and get the first ever digital tradable game on Ultra now!

Uniq V1
In June we launched a new standard for our Uniqs with Uniq V1. This significant update to our Uniq standard brought about a range of enhancements that offer greater flexibility and control to those creating with Uniqs.
Here’s what the upgrade included for creators and developers:
- Variable metadata: This capability allows Uniq creators to imbue each individual Uniq with distinctive characteristics and attributes, fostering greater levels of personalization and engagement for collectors and users alike.
- Tradability and transferability: This enhancement allows creators to exercise full control over whether their Uniqs must be traded on the secondary marketplace with a desired minimum resale price, while also allowing free person-to-person transfers.
- Locking metadata: Creators can lock a collection’s metadata, revolutionizing the way essential information associated with Uniq collections is authenticated.
- Minimum resale price in USD: Creators now have the option to set a minimum resale price in USD on Uniqs.
- Dynamic metadata: This innovation allows for a more flexible approach, where certain metadata can be updated frequently without requiring on-chain verification.
Whether it’s designing compelling collectibles or unique digital assets, Uniq V1 empowers creators to push the boundaries of their creativity.
Uniq Variants
The variants feature ushers a new era of customization and creative expression within the Ultra ecosystem regarding asset creation for creators, brands, and game developers.
Uniq Variants empowers brands, game developers, and creators by granting them the ability to create tokens with distinct metadata from a single token factory.
Dynamic Metadata
With dynamic metadata, developers can distinguish between static and fluctuating data, enabling them to optimize their applications accordingly.
Uniq Reveal Feature
The reveal feature has versatile applications, including uncovering the contents of a loot box or showcasing artwork in a profile picture project. This feature generates anticipation and excitement in a community, opening doors to diverse marketing opportunities.
Brains Club Collection
The Brains Club collection was the first variant collection on Ultra. The collection boasts 10,000 unique artworks, with 300 of the tokens being exclusively on Ultra. These 300 Uniqs will have Ultra-branded accessories/traits, meaning you can rock the Ultra brand in your profile picture on various channels.

First-hand On-Chain Purchases
We recently launched our new on-chain first-hand purchase feature, designed to enhance a creator’s flexibility over their Uniq collections, as well as provide new ways for players to acquire Uniqs.
First-hand on-chain purchases unlock the following:
- Setting up purchase options on Uniqs
- New ways of distributing Uniqs
- Whitelisting for Uniq collections
- Quantity limitation of purchase options
- and more
The on-chain first-hand purchase feature represents a significant stride in delivering a comprehensive toolkit for creators to fine-tune their digital item sales strategies, all while enhancing the convenience for players to obtain Uniqs.

A Peak at What’s to Come in 2024
While we’ve released so much in 2023, 2024 promises to be a year where we showcase the potential of our ecosystem.
In 2024 we aim to optimize our current applications for experience and content, to attract more gamers to Ultra’s ecosystem. In the coming months, we’ll be releasing an updated roadmap, where we’ll highlight some of the core operations for 2024.
As we promised in 2023, our applications are all built. It’s now time to see what they’re made of. Bring on 2024!
